Dear Abacom and users.

I need help and advice .
We are currently working on a new engine development and we are now doing sound -noise measurements on the exhaust system ,
we have micro phones connected to ampilfiers which outputs a -10 ,10 volt signal for data logging and the FFT calculations for the Frequency spectrum .
Is it possible to save this recorded data in a specific format and use PL to play back this recorded data ,if so in what format should the recorded data be transformed to
(The data is logged as normal spreadsheet data )that it could be opened by exel or any spread sheet type software.

Thank you very much .
Peter

What frequency range are we talking about. Which hardware device is used. More detailed please.

Abacom thank you for the reply.
The frequency range we are talking about is the audio frequency range
as these test is to determine the noise db levels from the exhaust mufflers and as you are aware if we close the sound to much then the performance goes down and the
fuel consumption up there for we are trying to find the best noise to power relations staying in the EU regulations of 71dB for passenger vehicles.
The frequenies above the human hear limit is of no importance at the moment yes later in the development stage this will become important
but not for at least for the next 8 months.

I am logging the Microphone ampifier signals to an excel spread sheet and also the FFT power spectrum ,the data comes from a microcontroller
over USB into the serial components of profilab and the clocked into Excel
and the FFT is calculated in the uC over 4096 samples and the resulting FFTis also send as part of the data string to PL.

Thank you very much

Abacom Thank you I know the y(t) can play back data as i used it in some other projects however my fault i was not clear enough I would like to play the sound file back through media player or something similar
Sorry my apologies for the misleading explenation.

You can playback sound files with the SOUND MODULE component.
Therefore you have to record a wave file (*.wav). GOLDWAVE (freeware) may be a good choice for that purpose.

http://www.goldwave.com

I have also also seen a solution from ExpertProfi called "PlaySoundOnDevice" that allows wavefile playback and might be useful for you.
